Ovarian Cancer
Cancer of the ovaries is the second most common gynaecological
cancer, accounting for about 5 per cent of all women's cancers, and
the fourth most common cancer in women after breast, bowel, and
lung cancer.
Each year in the UK, nearly 7,000 women are diagnosed with
ovarian cancer and 4,400 die from the disease. While treatment for
ovarian cancer has advanced over the last 20 years, long term
survival rates have improved very little. Over the same period,
survival rates for breast and cervical cancers have greatly
improved.
