History of The 500 Club
The brainchild of two of The Eve Appeal's supporters, Rita
Skinner and Julia Goodman, The 500 Club initiative was developed in
early 2006 specifically to raise funds for The Eve Appeal's ovarian
cancer campaign.
At that time, awareness of the grim survival rates of women with
ovarian cancer and the hope offered by the ambitious research
programme at University College London underlined the urgent need
for funds that could ensure the programme's future.
Money received by The Eve Appeal since The 500 Club's formation
has helped fund projects that have already produced results that
are changing the outlook for ovarian cancer.
