Leave a Legacy

By remembering The Eve Appeal in your Will you can help ensure that lifesaving research into gynaecological cancers will continue.

Leaving a legacy is a tax-efficient way of giving to this vital research as charity gifts do not attract inheritance tax and it is relatively easy to set up.

To leave a legacy, you will need to write or legally alter a Will.  Writing a Will does not need to be complicated or expensive and ensures that your estate will be distributed according to your wishes rather than decisions being made on your behalf.

1. Find a solicitor
Instructing a solicitor is one of the safest ways to make a Will. The Eve Appeal can offer the services of Corren Troen for a free initial consultation about setting up or altering your Will.

2. List your assets
Note down all of your assets such as your bank/ building society accounts, car, home, belongings etc.

3. Decide whom you would like to benefit
Your beneficiaries may include family, friends and charities.

4. Decide what gifts to leave
There are several types of gifts that you can make:

  • Residual Gift - A bequest of any assets that remain after you have provided for named beneficiaries and after any expenses have been deducted.
  • Pecuniary Gift - A fixed sum of money - this may be affected by inflation.
  • Specific Gift - Bequeathe a specific item - antique, jewellery etc.
  • Reversionary Gift - A gift that provides for your loved ones during their lifetime but reverts to your nominated charity on their death.
