The 500 Club

We want you to join a group of 500 women committed to making a real difference. By joining The 500 Club, you will help us to find research techniques that will aim to halve the death rates from ovarian cancer within the next ten years.

Your Opportunity to Make a Difference

The 500 Club is your opportunity to support one of the world’s largest and most successful ovarian cancer research programmes, based at University College London. Led by Professor Ian Jacobs, one of the world’s leading gynaecological oncologists, the programme is well on the way to finding research methods which will aim to reduce the deaths from ovarian cancer by 50%, as well as impacting significantly on other gynaecological cancers.

Caring for women is at the heart of what we do. Our programme covers a broad spectrum of research, from basic science through to managing symptoms, looking at all angles to ensure that women are given a better chance of surviving this deadly illness.

Membership of The 500 Club

For an annual donation of £500, you can have a direct impact on the health of women around the UK, becoming part of a group dedicated to helping other women.

Being a member, you will also:

  • be invited to an annual 500 Club reception
  • be invited to a programme of other special events and networking opportunities
  • receive a bi-annual newsletter about our work
  • be invited to a tour of the research laboratories and discussion with the research team (by arrangement)

Other Ways To Help

Membership Sponsorship
Although The 500 Club is for women, many of our members have been sponsored by either husbands, fathers or friends.   Some of our current members have also sponsored a family member, friend or colleague and given them the opportunity to be a part of this unique group.

Recruit A Friend, Colleague or Family Member
The 500 Club works at its best via word of mouth, networking, and the commitment of our members to our cause. Many women are inspired to recruit a friend, colleague or member of their family. If you are interested in recruiting more members, please get in touch.

Spreading The Word
If you can provide access to a network or association which may include women who would be interested in The 500 Club, please do let us know. We can provide further information or a personal briefing about what we do.

Match Funding – Make Your Donation Go Even Further
Many companies, particularly larger ones, will match fund a contribution to a charity by one of their staff. It's worth investigating as it could either reduce the cost of your membership to you personally, or add more financial value.
