Leave a Legacy

Who ever said there isn’t life after death? Remembering The Eve Appeal in your Will is a great opportunity to ensure that work will continue into finding techniques capable of saving 50% of women who are unfortunate to develop gynaecological cancers.

Leaving a legacy is also a tax-efficient way of supporting your chosen cause. The Eve Appeal will not have to pay any inheritance tax on the donation. Anyone can do it and it is relatively easy to set up.

To leave a legacy, you will need to write, or legally alter a Will. Importantly, this will also give you the opportunity to make sure that all of your loved ones will be looked after as well.

Writing a Will does not need to be complicated or expensive.

1. Find a solicitor
Using a solicitor is one of the safest ways to make a Will.

2. List your assets
Note down all of your assets such as your bank/ building society accounts, car, home, belongings etc.

3. Decide who you would like to benefit
This includes your family, friends and any charities that you wish to give a final donation to.

4. Decide what to sort of gifts to leave
There are several types of gifts that you can leave:

  • Residual Gift – A bequest of the remainder of your assets after having provided for family, friends and any other expenses have been deducted.
  • Pecuniary Gift – A fixed amount of money, which may be affected by inflation in the future
  • Specific Gift – Bequest a specific item – antique, jewellery etc.
  • Reversionary Gift – You can provide for your loved ones in the first instance. For example, leave your partner your estate for the rest of their life and thereafter pass it to the charity of your choice.

Keep your Will up to date
The Eve Appeal is grateful to anyone who remembers us in their Will.
