Before the event
Make sure that you contact local media at least one week prior to the event.
Contact local media to obtain the names of the news editors (newspapers) or forward planning desk (radio and TV).
Contact these named editors. Introduce yourself and explain that you support The Eve Appeal and want to tell them about your fundraising activity you are organising locally.
Send a press release to your contact. It’s probably easiest if you add in a paragraph about you into the press release attached here. This press release includes a “call to action” that shows how people can support your Eve Appeal event.
Follow up on your press release with a phone call. Remember that the media may welcome a little prompting - but also remember that you may want them to support you at a future time.
If the media look like they are going to run a story on you, please let us know and we will watch out for the press cutting and try and listen to any broadcast.
After the event
Take photos at your event and send them to your news contact with details of how the event went. This is a great way to thank people and let people know how much you’ve raised.
